On this trip of a lifetime we meld the macro and micro perspective as you soar over the dynamic Mississippi River Delta before exploring the delta by boat, getting a closer look at this important ecosystem.

What to expect:

8:00 Guests meet at Southern Seaplane (directions)

Once at Southern Seaplane, you’ll have a safety briefing, before departing on an aerial tour of the delta. Our partners at Southern Seaplane have been flying over the delta for generations. Their expert pilots share points of interest on the flight following the Mississippi River and it’s surrounding wetlands.

9:00 Arrive Delta Discovery Dock.

Coffee and restrooms awaite before we give a presentation on the natural and human history of the delta.

9:30 Depart on the boat excursion.

On the boat we will visit a corner of the delta where a new connection between river and sea has been made. The resulting ecological resurgence and the emergence of a new subdelta is spectacular. You’ll leave with a sense of hope that when given the chance, nature can heal itself.

11:30 Board the seaplane for the return trip.

The return trip highlights the tale of two deltas where contrasting ecological conditions are visible from the plane. On the return leg you’ll see large bays, salt marshes, and the city of New Orleans on the horizon.

12:00 Arrive to the seaplane base.

These memorable trips are customizable. When booking be sure to ask us about options like a longer air tour, or rendezvousing in the field. We’re looking forward to getting you above and into the delta.
