About Delta Discovery
Delta Discovery is an ecotourism company rooted in Louisiana’s coastal ecosystems, people, and future. Our tours are designed to educate and inspire through immersive experiences in the wetlands, focused on environmental awareness, coastal restoration, and local heritage. We’re passionate about connecting people to place and protecting what makes the Mississippi River Delta special.
Delta Discovery was created from another business venture by founder Richie Blink. While planting thousands of trees in coastal Louisiana each Spring, Richie would bring volunteers, mostly friends looking to help turn the tide against coastal land loss. Those folks would inevitably ask to bring others. Delta Discovery was born.
Our Trajectory
Delta Discovery has accommodated more than ten thousand guests since its inception in 2015. Our impact has increased significantly. We owe it to our diverse clientele including academics, scientists, filmmakers, artists, culinary professionals, curriculum writers, culture bearers, students, and curious people from around the world. Over the years we added boats and a storefront.
Today we are looking for job seekers that align with our values to accommodate the increasing amount of people wanting to access coastal Louisiana. We are specifically looking for a marketing intern and a marine operations tech.
Looking forward, we want to sink more carbon through community informed wetland plantings. We intend on further developing educational opportunities to help folks living in the region better understand their relationship with water.
Real World Operations
Delta Discovery consistently delivers positive experiences for guests in spite of impacts from a changing coast, hurricane scares, impacts to infrastructure, and an ever dwindling coastline. The area where we operate is on the bleeding edge of climate change. Applicants will combine their academic experience with the real world nuance of dealing with climate impacts to find solutions in in real time.
Successful applicants will have the opportunity to communicate with our wide range of guests, venture into the Mississippi River Delta and other corners of Coastal Louisiana, and be a part of a successful operation focused on education around one of the most pressing issues of our time.
